American Idol is reportedly leaving California and moving production to Georgia, marking another major change for the long-running singing competition.
According to a new report from Deadline, the show is expected to relocate to the Atlanta area, with production reportedly in final discussions with a studio there. The move appears to be connected to production costs and tax incentives, as several unscripted television shows have recently moved out of California.
The relocation comes after a series of changes for American Idol. Carrie Underwood joined the judging panel in 2024, replacing Katy Perry, while the show moved Hollywood Week to Nashville in 2026 and introduced social media voting.
Season 25 is expected to premiere in early 2027. Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and host Ryan Seacrest are all expected to return, although an official announcement has not yet been made.
Meanwhile, auditions for the next season are already underway through the “Idol Across America” campaign. Hopeful contestants can audition virtually, with some selected for live auditions in front of the judges and producers.
A new home, a new season, and plenty of new talent—American Idol is heading into another chapter.
