Taylor Swift has surprised fans once again.
Just one day after announcing her new single “Patient Zero,” Swift revealed The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition of her 2025 album featuring four brand-new songs.
The new tracks are “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding,” and “Babylon.” The expanded album is set to arrive Friday, September 25.
Swift shared the surprise announcement on Instagram, explaining that the project came together after she traveled to Sweden to reunite with her longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.
The trip was originally intended as a chance for Swift to celebrate and reflect on the enormous response to The Life of a Showgirl. But once the trio found themselves back in a studio together, they did what they do best: they started writing more music.
Swift described the four new songs as being born out of gratitude for the enthusiasm fans showed toward the original album.
The announcement came less than 24 hours after Swift revealed that “Patient Zero” would be released on September 25. What initially appeared to be a standalone surprise single turned out to be part of a much bigger release.
The original The Life of a Showgirl arrived in October 2025 and became a major commercial success. Swift said the album achieved the biggest first week for an album in history, prompting her to return to Sweden and work on additional material with Martin and Shellback.
The Four New Songs
The expanded edition will add the following songs to the original album:

“Cleveland!” has already caught fans’ attention because Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce, grew up in the Cleveland area. However, Swift has not publicly explained the meaning behind the song title.
Meanwhile, Swifties have already begun analyzing the other titles and looking for possible connections to Swift’s previous lyrics, recent appearances, and Easter eggs. Some of those theories remain fan speculation, as Swift has not confirmed what the songs are about.
Fans also believe Swift may have been teasing the “Encore” project before officially announcing it. Her cryptic appearance in a 2026 Emmys sketch and a clue in the “Opalite” music video have fueled theories that the surprise was hiding in plain sight.

Working exclusively with producers Max Martin and Shellback, Swift challenged herself to create a concise, upbeat record after the sprawling The Tortured Poets Department anthology, which arrived in 2024.
“There’s no other songs coming,” Swift said during an August 2025 appearance on New Heights. While The Tortured Poets Department contained 31 songs, Swift explained that Showgirl was intentionally different, with just 12 tracks.
“This is the kind of record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time,” she said, highlighting the album’s joyful and energetic spirit.
Still, Swift has made it clear that her music cannot easily be placed into one category. Although Showgirl showcased a more playful and lighthearted side of the singer-songwriter, she has also emphasized how dramatically her songwriting style has evolved throughout her career.
During a Grammy Museum panel, Swift reflected on how fans sometimes struggle to believe that the same artist could create songs with completely different tones.
“One will be very simplistic and silly and one will be very detailed and deep,” she explained, adding that she enjoys the “playful contradiction” found throughout her body of work.
