Dolly Parton’s younger sister, Stella Parton, is remembering her beloved sister as the family reaches the one-month anniversary of Dolly’s passing.
Dolly died on August 25 following a brief battle with cancer. In the weeks since her death, her siblings have shared emotional tributes, with Stella previously honoring Dolly in a heartfelt message about her life, faith, and lasting legacy.
“If anyone gets to heaven, I’m sure she made it right on time,” Stella wrote at the time, adding that Dolly had “got her wings.” She imagined her sister shining brightly in heaven, surrounded by the sparkle and joy that had always been part of who she was.
Stella Parton Opens Up About Life Without Dolly
On September 24, Stella took to social media to reflect on the difficult month her family has experienced.
“Tomorrow will be one month since my big sister Dolly left us on this side of what is called reality,” Stella wrote. She added that she still feels Dolly’s presence and believes her sister’s light will never disappear because of the goodness she planted in the lives of others.
The family was already facing heartbreak before Dolly’s death. Their brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, died on July 23, just weeks before Dolly passed away.
Stella also acknowledged the challenges her family has faced during this difficult period, emphasizing that they remain together and are moving forward while supporting their children and grandchildren.
She asked people not to draw conclusions from reports surrounding the family, explaining that they are simply taking life one day at a time and remaining grateful for every blessing.
Although Dolly was laid to rest in a private ceremony, her legacy continues to be celebrated around the world. September 25 has been recognized as “Dolly Parton Day,” with businesses and organizations taking part in celebrations and supporting Dolly’s Imagination Library.
