Kelly Clarkson is making it clear that dating is not a priority for her right now—and her children are a big reason why.
During a recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, the singer and television personality opened up about her life after losing her former husband, Brandon Blackstock. Rather than looking for a new relationship, Clarkson explained that she is focused on the life she has built with her children and the routine that currently works for their family.
Clarkson and Blackstock shared two children, daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander. Blackstock died in 2025 following a private battle with cancer. His illness and death brought a difficult period for the family, and Clarkson made significant changes to her professional schedule so she could be present for her children.
For Clarkson, being there for her kids has remained one of her biggest priorities. Now, she says they have found a routine that feels comfortable, and she does not want to disrupt that balance by bringing a new romantic partner into their lives.
The singer explained that her children are not ready for her to introduce a new love interest into the family dynamic. Her comments offer a glimpse into how carefully she is considering their feelings while navigating life as a mother following a major loss.
Clarkson has continued working and connecting with fans, but she has also spoken openly about the importance of protecting her family and making decisions based on what is right for her children.
For many parents, starting a new relationship can involve much more than personal feelings. It can also mean considering how a new partner could affect children, their routines, emotions and sense of stability. Clarkson appears to be taking that approach, choosing to give her family the time and space they need rather than rushing into something new.
Her decision also reflects where she seems to be emotionally and personally at this stage of her life. Instead of focusing on whether she should be dating, Clarkson is embracing the everyday rhythm she has with her children.
There is no indication that she is closing the door on love forever. For now, however, she appears content with the life she is living and the relationship she shares with her kids.
After everything the family has experienced, Clarkson’s priority is simple: being present for her children and protecting the stability they have created together.
And for now, that is more than enough for the Grammy-winning singer.
