Ella Langley has reached a major career milestone, making history as her breakout single “Choosin’ Texas” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the first time she has topped the chart.
With the achievement, Langley becomes the first woman in country music to lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts at the same time. According to Billboard, only three other songs have managed this rare crossover sweep: Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help,” and Wallen’s “Last Night.”
The track’s success extends far beyond radio. “Choosin’ Texas” has generated more than 310 million streams worldwide, earned RIAA Platinum certification, and climbed to No. 1 on both the U.S. Spotify chart and Apple Music’s U.S. Songs chart. It also became just the fourth country song led by a female artist to top Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart in its 13-year history.
Langley’s victory comes shortly after she rallied fans online for one final push toward the historic chart position. In a social media message, she shared how close the race was and encouraged listeners to help carry the song over the finish line.
She wrote that fans had put her in position to accomplish something few women in country music have achieved, noting the race for No. 1 was tight and that one last surge could make history.
“Choosin’ Texas” was co-written and produced by Langley alongside Miranda Lambert, producer Ben West, and songwriters Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, with Lambert contributing background vocals. The track tells a bittersweet story of heartbreak, following a narrator who realizes the man she loves is emotionally tied to Texas — and to someone else. Langley delivers the tale with a blend of vulnerability and grit that has resonated widely with listeners.
The hit serves as the lead single from Langley’s upcoming sophomore album, Dandelion, arriving April 10.
Looking ahead, Langley is preparing to launch The Dandelion Tour, beginning May 7 in Toledo, Ohio. The run includes stops in St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Austin, and more before concluding August 15 in Fort Worth, Texas. Select dates will feature support from Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Marlowe, Kaitlin Butts, Gabriella Rose, and Laci Kaye Booth.
In addition to her headlining tour, Langley is scheduled to join Eric Church’s Free The Machine Tour, Morgan Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour, and several festival lineups throughout the year.
