Dolly Parton was unable to attend a planned appearance at her beloved theme park, Dollywood, after doctors advised her not to travel due to a sudden health issue.
The country music icon had been scheduled to appear on September 17 to unveil an exciting new attraction set to open in 2026. The ride, called NightFlight Expedition, is expected to be one of the park’s most ambitious projects yet—a unique indoor experience combining a roller coaster with whitewater rapids in a nighttime-themed adventure.
However, Dolly later explained that she had been dealing with a painful kidney stone that led to an infection. Following medical advice, she decided to stay home and take time to recover rather than travel to the park for the big announcement.
In a video message shared with the crowd, Dolly apologized for missing the event and said she was there “in spirit,” adding that she was incredibly excited for guests to experience the new attraction once it opens.
Earlier in the year, Dolly did appear at Dollywood to help celebrate the park’s 40th anniversary during the 2025 season opening. That visit was especially emotional, as it marked her first public appearance after the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, on March 3.
During the welcome event, Dolly thanked fans for their support and kind messages following his death. She shared how much Carl meant to her and said she would always love and miss him, while also noting that he would have wanted her to keep doing the work she loves.
Despite the recent health setback, Dolly’s connection with her fans remains as strong as ever, and many are already looking forward to seeing her back at Dollywood soon. 💛🎶
