Everyone has had that moment of looking at someone else’s life and thinking, why can’t that be me? On her new single, Ella Langley dives into that universal feeling. In “Be Her,” she openly admits the thought most people keep to themselves, while painting a vivid picture of the woman she aspires to become.
Released today via SAWGOD/Columbia Records, “Be Her” was co-written by Langley, Jordan Schmidt, Smith Ahnquist, and fellow country star HARDY. HARDY admits that from the moment writing began, he knew the song had magic.
“I knew ‘Be Her’ was a hit the second we started writing it,” he shared. “It’s one of those songs that basically wrote itself. We were done in 30 minutes. Those are always the best ones. It’s so fun to watch Ella and the rocket ship that she’s on, and I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
Langley’s momentum continues to soar. Following hits like “You Look Like You Love Me” and her record-breaking success with “Choosin’ Texas,” “Be Her” is poised to set the stage for her highly anticipated sophomore album, Dandelion.
From the very first verse, the Alabama native offers an honest, introspective look at the woman she dreams of becoming—a figure seemingly grounded, confident, and fulfilled:
“She drinks wine by the glass, not by the bottle / She ain’t stuck on the past, ain’t worried about tomorrow / She’s a lover, a mother, a sister and wife / She rolls over in the morning to the love of her life / Only smokes one on vacation, says just what she thinks / She don’t need validation or much of anything,” Langley sings.
The song’s chorus delivers raw, aching desire, blending grit and vulnerability with a smooth mid-tempo beat that aligns with Langley’s current sound:
“I just wanna be her so bad, it hurts so bad, it hurts so / I just wanna be her / I just wanna be her / I just wanna be her so bad, it hurts so bad, it hurts so / I just wanna be her / I just wanna be her so bad / It hurts so bad.”
The release is accompanied by an official video co-directed by Langley and Wales Toney. In the visual, Langley dons all black against a striking red backdrop, taking on various forms of the woman she hopes to become. Fans will notice a subtle Easter egg around 2:23, when she sprays perfume—hinting at a possible surprise.
“Be Her” arrives ahead of the release of Dandelion on April 10, as well as Langley’s 2026 headline tour. It marks the third single released from the album, alongside the title track and “Choosin’ Texas,” which made history as Langley became the first woman to simultaneously top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. The track also currently sits at No. 1 on Mediabase Country Audience, Billboard Country Streaming Songs, Billboard Country Digital Song Sales, SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown (six weeks), and UK Country Radio (twelve weeks).
Fans are already snapping up tickets for Langley’s 16-date arena tour, which kicks off May 7 in Toledo, OH, and continues through stops in St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Austin, and more, before wrapping August 15 in Fort Worth, TX. Supporting her across various dates are Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Marlowe, Kaitlin Butts, Gabriella Rose, and Laci Kaye Booth.
With “Be Her,” Ella Langley delivers an intimate, aspirational anthem while building the momentum for what promises to be a landmark year in her career.
