Ella Langley Stands Firm Against Auto-Tune in Her Live Shows

Ella Langley prides herself on being as authentic as possible, and fans who attend her concerts know exactly what that means. In an era where nearly everything can be digitally perfected, Langley is committed to delivering raw, unfiltered performances—even if that includes the occasional mistake.

While appearing on The Bobby Bones Show, host Bobby Bones noted how social media has added intense pressure for artists, since every live moment can now be recorded and shared instantly.

Langley agreed, explaining that the industry’s obsession with perfection has distorted people’s expectations of live music. With edited photos and heavily processed songs everywhere, real vocals can sound unfamiliar to modern listeners. According to her, many artists now rely on live auto-tune during concerts to maintain that polished sound—but that’s something she refuses to do.

“That’s something I’m never going to do,” Langley said firmly. “I don’t want to do that.”

She recalled an encounter with another artist who assumed she would eventually adopt live tuning, insisting that “everyone does it.” Langley shut that idea down immediately, making it clear that authenticity is non-negotiable in her career.

For Langley, performing live means embracing imperfections. She admits there are nights when she forgets lyrics, runs out of breath, or her voice isn’t at its strongest. But to her, those moments are what make live music special.

“That’s the fun of seeing an artist live,” she explained. “You get the imperfections. You see who they really are—not just something perfect.”

Music has always been her livelihood. While in college, Langley performed covers in local bars before moving to Nashville to pursue songwriting. Singing, she says, has been her passion for as long as she can remember.

That dedication has paid off. In 2025, Langley became one of the most celebrated artists at the ACM Awards, earning multiple wins including New Female Artist of the Year. Her breakout hit, “You Look Like You Love Me” featuring Riley Green, earned major accolades, and her RIAA Gold-certified single “Weren’t For The Wind” marked her first solo No. 1.

Currently touring with Morgan Wallen, Langley is also preparing to continue her sold-out Still Hungover headline tour this fall—bringing fans exactly what she promises every night: the real thing.
