Megan Moroney and Ella Langley Make Country Music History on the Billboard Charts

Country stars Megan Moroney and Ella Langley have just achieved something no pair of female country artists has ever done before.

According to Billboard, the two singers made history on the charts dated March 7, 2026. Moroney’s new album Cloud 9 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while Langley’s hit Choosin’ Texas returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The milestone marks the first time in history that two female country artists have simultaneously led Billboard’s all-genre album and song charts since the Hot 100 began tracking data in 1958.

The achievement also places Moroney and Langley in rare company. Only a handful of country artists have ever dominated both charts in the same week. Past examples include Eagles with Hotel California and Glen Campbell with Southern Nights in 1977. More recently, Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen achieved the feat in 2023, followed by collaborations involving Post Malone, Shaboozey, and Jelly Roll in 2024.

For both Moroney and Langley, the moment is also a personal career breakthrough. Cloud 9 is Moroney’s first album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while “Choosin’ Texas” marks Langley’s first No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Langley celebrated the achievement earlier this year on Instagram, writing:
“We did it!! ‘Choosin’ Texas’ is the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. I can’t thank y’all enough for what you’ve done with this song. Here’s to women and country music.”

Weeks later, she reacted again when the song returned to the top spot, sharing the chart update with emotional emojis.

Released in October 2025, “Choosin’ Texas” serves as the lead single from Langley’s upcoming album Dandelion, which is scheduled for release on April 10.

Moroney also shared her excitement after Cloud 9 debuted at No. 1, thanking fans in a celebratory Instagram post.
“Cloud 9 is No. 1!!! Best fans in the world. Thank you for streaming, listening, and connecting with these songs. I can’t wait to sing them with you on tour.”

The album, released February 20, blends humor, heartbreak, confidence, and honesty—qualities Moroney says reflect everything she loves about country music. The project also includes collaborations with artists like Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves.

With this historic chart moment, Moroney and Langley have not only celebrated personal milestones—they’ve also written a new chapter for women in country music.
