Sunmi releases ‘Go or Stop’ for esports champions DWG KIA

As we all know South Korea is one of the leading countries when it comes to entertainment. K-Pop has become the country’s biggest cultural asset due to the global popularity of South Korea’s cultural economy exporting pop culture, entertainment, music TV dramas, and movies or simply the global Hallyu wave. Their technology is quite advanced as well and they have the fastest internet and leading in the development of technologies to suit our needs. From immersive esports experience to realistic virtual concerts, South Korea seems to go all out. Similarly, for the upcoming League of Legends world championship, we can see one of the popular K-pop icons Sunmi’s involvement.

On October 11, Sunmi dropped the music video for “Go or Stop”. This MV is dedicated to South Korea’s team DWG KIA (Damwon Kia), who are the countries esports champions that won their first League of Legends Champions Korea trophy in 2020. It can be considered as their theme song. They also won the 2020 World Championship (League of Legends) in the same year. Sunmi to support the team partnered up with the team and released ‘Go or Stop’ hours before their match for the 2021 World Championship.


Global artists are coming together to support their country’s team

Esports is one of the fastest-growing spectators’ sports in the entire world and many global artists are coming together to support their country’s team. Lil Nas X showed support to the American team 100 Thieves with a special collaborative music video. Similarly, for the South Korean team, we have none other than famous k-pop icon Sunmi. Sunmi had already appeared on DWG KIA’s YouTube video in January which made K-pop and League of Legends fans have their worlds collide. In the YouTube video, she appeared in a fun segment where she helped the team to take the perfect selfies.

The MV was directed by herself and we can see her channeling her inner gamer. The MV is a fun cinematic piece that is full of house and trap sounds. In the MV we can see her with baby pink hair and she is seen dancing to the intense song under neon strobe lights and sci-fi props. It is also reported that she is preparing for her first concert ‘God Girl Gone Mad’. This will be her first concert after her world tour in 2019.  Tickets could be bought from the Weverse Shop and the concert will be held on October 30 at 2 P KST.

Recently lots of fans have shown love and support to the single on Twitter. Some of the fans tweeted, “Thats insane. If i was a player at worlds and sunmi dedicated a song to my team i would be pretty much forced to win worlds. Cant let sunmi down.”,”damwon is gonna win tonight they have sunmi buff”,and “sunmi about to be at the top of the itaewon club dj charts”. Some even added “HELLO @LCK_Global????  @miyaohyeah just released single of the year for @DWGKIA???”
