The ‘Apologize to Jennie’ trends while Blackpink star is drawn into Lisa’s line of abuse.

BLACKPINK's Lisa and Jennie

Over the past few days, the YG has been under fire for mistreating Blackpink member Lisa. The solo debut of the idol born in Thailand received little promotion and ended after 10 days. The label was also criticized for cultural appropriation because stylists used box braids while music producers used AAVE for the b-side song ‘Money’. They tried to calm the fans by getting Kmedia to report that Lisa would be re-united with her fellow group member but that didn’t work.

The CEO of Bvlgari and Vogue Thailand talked about Lisa’s absence at fashion shows despite her stay in France.   The CEO posted a special post on Instagram indicating that Lisa had been invited to the Etam’s show and the Bvlgari campaign but she had been tested positive for Covid-19 and couldn’t attend the show and campaign. But no need to worry as she had been already vaccinated and other members of Blackpink are allowed to join the crowded fashion shows in Paris. In addition to reporting this case, a news agency has dragged Jennie into the problem.

Jennie gets dragged into Lisa’s mistreatment as a news agency mentions her name

On October 6 a news agency Thai Enquirer made a report stating that Lisa had been prevented to attend Bvlgari’s show at Paris Fashion Week. The story itself simply captures the situation and the reaction of the fans. However, as they were tweeting the article, they chose to add a hashtag for Jennie. And it enraged the fans. They felt that the agency was trying to either use her name on social media or to suggest that Jennie had something to do with Lisa’s mistreatment. They explained that it was only the YG that was at fault and that there was no reason for Jennie’s involvement.

But the Thai Enquirer’s response was found to be unprofessional. Fans say that Sir Cod Satrusayang and Erich Parpart, editor and writer at the news agency seemed to mock and demean their anger. As a result, they turned to Twitter to trend #ApologizeToJennie. Fans defended Jennie by making posts like, “Jennie is not the enemy here pls direct your anger to YG!”, and “The question is why only her name being mention? It’s obviously the Hidden meaning of it to paint her as the bad one & they said we overact but even u can see the tweet & all. Plus both editor chief & senior shade J STOP USING JENNIE”.

Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated

@lyle0_0 tweeted , “Imagine being an editor in chief with a mindset as low as this daaaang i don’t  know what happen to people right now I’M SPEECHLESS! PROTECT JENNIE FROM THAI MEDIA.” And another fan added, “Jennie is not involve here i mean its YG!! And not jennie yah!! stop hating other members STOP USING JENNIE.” One of the fan was disappointed with the staff’s response and tweeted, “This is just driving me up the wall.”
