Upcoming K-Drama Seasons in 2022

Most K-Dramas are usually only one season long and they can be anywhere between 6 to 100 episodes and most being about 16 to 20 episodes. One season is usually enough and satisfying. There are a few shows that I would love to watch a second season or more.

Sequels confirmed for 2022

Upcoming sequels that are already confirmed in 2022.

Taxi Driver 2

Taxi Driver

If you haven’t watched Taxi Driver yet you need to get on it. This is an amazing dark drama, with lots of cool fight scenes. It’s about Kim Do Ki (Lee Je Hoon) a cab driver who also helps victims seek revenge when the law wasn’t on their side. Kang Ha Na (Esom) is a prosecutor who is fed up with the lawlessness of the Taxi company but also has conflicted feelings about what they do and why they need to do it. This show has a solid story, organ trafficking, awesome characters, and is packed with action.

The release date has not been confirmed yet but Lee Je Hoon and Eesom will be back for season 2.

Dr. Romantic 3

Best Romantic Korean Drama

Season 1 was released in 2016 with Han Seok Kyu, Yoo Yeon Suk, Seo Hyun Jin, and Yang Se Jong. Season 2 came out in 2020 with Han Seok Kyu, Lee Sung Kyung, and Ahn Hyo Seop. Master Kim (Han Seok Kyu) is a triple board-certified doctor who gets into it with the heads of the hospital and gets exiled to the countryside. The hospital has very few resources and is one of the only hospitals that service that area. It’s a battle between doctors and administrators.

Han Seok Kyu and Ahn Hyo Seop are confirmed for season 3. I can’t wait to see who else is cast.

Yumi’s Cells 2

Yumi’s Cells

This show was absolutely adorable and it left off with a breakup between our two leads. From what I’m told by the people who read the webtoon, we should expect a new love interest for season 2. JTBC News is even talking about a possible season 3 depending on how season 2 ends. I have a full review of season 1 here.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed

Tale of the Nine Tailed

This show was confirmed for a second and third season! Hotties, Lee Dong Wook, Kim So Yeon, and Kim Beom are confirmed as a part of the cast. Season 2 is expected to sometime in 2022 and season three in 2023. Jo Bo Ah who played Nam Ji Ah will not be in the subsequent seasons. I love Lee Dong Wook and I get excited about all of his shows. My favorite 저승 사자.

Work Later, Drink Now

I love watching K-dramas with strong female friendships. These three bad bitches are confirmed for a season 2 with a cutie, Choi Siwon. The first season starts off hilarious and finishes off heartwarming and sweet. 12 episodes were not enough and an additional season is definitely needed.

Sequels I’m Waiting For

Okay, I need someone to tell me when these sequels are coming out. My Google searches and Naver searches have been unsuccessful and took me into circles.

Arthdal Chronicles

Arthdal Chronicles

I am so sad to say that I am slowly losing hope that the next season for this one will come to fruition. Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, and Park Hae Joon are all working on other projects. Season 1 came out in 2019 and production for season 2 was scheduled for 2020 but you know, the pandemic killed all great things. This show is an absolute must-watch and was left unfinished. I need to know what happens next. My review of Season 1 is here.

As per the Korean and English internet, there are no plans for a season 3. Season 2 left so many unanswered questions. It was the third most expensive kdrama but this show was popular all over the world and I can’t see why it wouldn’t get renewed.

Everyone loves a good thriller action kdrama especially with our national gems, Bae Suzy and Lee Seung Gi. The drama left way too many unanswered questions. There are only unconfirmed rumors about another season. I couldn’t find anything concrete. I would even be happy with a 2-hour movie to wrap it up.

Hospital Playlist

Hospital Playlist

Okay, this show just needs to go on forever. It needs to reach the same number of seasons as Grey’s Anatomy. I will never get sick of these five surgeons. This is a beautiful perfect show. It is hilarious and heartwarming. Compared to other medical K-Dramas, the cases are much more realistic and how the doctors treat the patients is much more realistic. They didn’t need to add all of the bizarre cases or hospital corruption to make this drama successful. There are not enough words to describe how perfect this show is. All of the characters are loveable. We want more!
