In the mid-1970s, three of music’s most powerful voices—Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris—gathered informally around a kitchen table for what would become a historic musical moment. Even the project’s visual side drew notable attention. Filmmaker George Lucas directed the video for the song To Know Him Is to Love Him, focusing on the trio’s vocal connection rather than elaborate effects.
A Lasting Legacy
Decades later, the collaboration remains one of country music’s most celebrated partnerships. In 2016, the release of The Complete Trio Collection brought together their recordings and reminded fans how extraordinary that harmony truly was.
