The country music community is mourning the loss of Bill Cody, the beloved WSM Radio personality, longtime host of Coffee, Country & Cody, and cherished voice of the Grand Ole Opry. Cody passed away at the age of 67 following a serious illness.
News of his passing comes just days after his daughter, Hannah, asked fans and friends to pray for him as he battled heart and kidney failure in the ICU. In an emotional update shared in late May, she revealed that Cody was receiving ECMO treatment and facing a critical period as doctors evaluated whether he might qualify for a transplant.
“We need a miracle and we know God is able,” Hannah wrote at the time, asking supporters to keep her father in their prayers.
For more than three decades, Cody was one of the most recognizable and respected voices in country music broadcasting. Generations of listeners started their mornings with him on Coffee, Country & Cody, where his warmth, humor, and genuine love for country music made him a trusted companion to fans across the nation.
Beyond his work on radio, Cody became a familiar face and voice at the Grand Ole Opry, where he frequently hosted performances and welcomed some of the biggest stars in country music to the iconic stage.
Following the announcement of his passing, WSM Radio paid tribute to Cody’s remarkable legacy.

Throughout his distinguished career, Cody received numerous honors recognizing his contributions to broadcasting and country music. He was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame, earned a star on the Music City Walk of Fame, and is set to be inducted posthumously into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame.
