Kid Rock is taking his music in a deeply personal new direction, embracing his faith and preparing to release a collection of Christian songs that marks a new chapter in his career.
The singer, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, first gave fans a glimpse of his faith-focused music when he performed a Christian-inspired version of Cody Johnson’s hit “‘Til You Can’t” at the Turning Point USA alternate Super Bowl Halftime Show. Kid Rock added a new verse that he felt called to write, transforming the song into a personal expression of his faith.
He later released the studio version on February 9, and the song quickly made an impact. It reached No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart, while also climbing to No. 14 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 9 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

The response inspired Kid Rock to continue writing music centered around his relationship with Jesus.
“I started writing more songs,” he explained. “I decided to write the songs that I kind of wanted to celebrate Jesus and my faith, which are rock ’n’ roll, country, and hip-hop.”
Kid Rock Announces First Song From New Christian Album
On Wednesday, September 30, Kid Rock shared an Instagram video revealing that the first song from his upcoming Christian album would be released October 1.
In the video, he previewed lyrics from the new track, which reflects on his life, past struggles, faith, and the changes he experienced after turning toward Jesus Christ.
Kid Rock then explained how the song came together, saying he woke up around 2 a.m. one morning and wrote it in roughly 30 minutes.
The song is titled “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King),” and it appears to be the beginning of a larger musical project centered on Kid Rock’s faith.
For an artist known for blending rock, country, and hip-hop throughout his career, this new Christian collection represents another unexpected evolution—one that allows him to combine the sounds he has always loved with a message that has become increasingly important to him.
