Riley Green’s Exit From ‘Marshals’ Left the Cast “So Upset” After His Short but Memorable Run

Riley Green may be known for his country hits and touring schedule, but his brief stint on CBS’ Marshals left just as strong an impression on screen as it did behind the scenes.

Green appeared as Garrett, a troubled ex–Navy SEAL who arrives in Montana searching for connection and support from his old friend Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes. His storyline quickly became one of the more emotional arcs of the season, including a short-lived romance with Andrea, played by Ash Santos.

But despite the impact of his character, Garrett’s journey ended after just four episodes—something that reportedly disappointed both cast and crew.

Speaking about his departure, Santos revealed that many people on set were “so upset” when they learned his storyline was coming to an end. She noted that even members of the hair-and-makeup team had grown particularly fond of him during filming.

Green’s character ultimately met a tragic end after being trapped in a barn fire on Kayce Dutton’s ranch, a conclusion that closed his arc far sooner than some expected. According to Santos, even Green himself joked about wishing he had stayed longer, though his packed touring schedule made a longer commitment difficult.

Despite the short run, his presence clearly made an impact. Santos described him as “very sweet” and “so kind” to the entire cast and crew. On his final day of filming, while heading to catch a flight for a live performance, Green reportedly arranged for flowers to be sent to the hair-and-makeup team as a thank-you gesture.

The country star’s schedule continues to stay packed, with tour dates stretching into 2027, appearances at major festivals, and even participation in high-profile events like Alan Jackson’s farewell concert. Alongside music, his growing interest in acting suggests this may not be the last time fans see him on screen.

For now, Marshals has wrapped its season, but Green’s brief appearance proved something both fans and cast agreed on—he didn’t just act the part, he left a lasting impression.
