For Zac Brown, Sunday’s game at Truist Park was more than just a day at the ballpark—it was a full-circle moment decades in the making.
The Zac Brown Band frontman attended the Atlanta Braves game alongside his fiancée, Kendra Scott, to celebrate the debut of the band’s new Sunday Night Baseball opening theme.
As the Atlanta Braves took on the Cleveland Guardians, Brown reflected on what the opportunity meant to him as a lifelong baseball fan and devoted Braves supporter. Speaking during the broadcast with legendary sportscaster Bob Costas, Brown shared memories of growing up attending Braves games and dreaming of moments just like this.
For Brown, baseball has always been part of his story. He recalled attending games as a child and even performing the national anthem at Atlanta’s Fulton County Stadium when he was just 14 years old. Years later, standing at Truist Park to celebrate a national sports broadcast featuring his music made the experience even more meaningful.
“It’s an honor,” Brown said. “We love what we do. We’re blessed to have a career that’s lasted, and we absolutely love our partnership with Major League Baseball.”
The new Sunday Night Baseball opening features Zac Brown Band’s energetic reimagining of Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s classic “Karn Evil 9, 1st Impression Part 2,” blended with elements of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” The result is a high-energy introduction that will welcome viewers to ESPN’s weekly baseball showcase throughout the season.
The achievement places Zac Brown Band alongside other artists who have become part of major sports traditions, joining notable theme song performers such as Carrie Underwood for Sunday Night Football and Lenny Kravitz for Sunday Night Basketball.
While celebrating the debut, Brown also looked ahead to an exciting year for the band. Following their ambitious residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Zac Brown Band is preparing to bring that larger-than-life production to fans across the country with their upcoming Love & Fear Tour.
Brown praised the musicianship of his bandmates and promised fans a concert experience unlike anything they’ve seen before.
For one afternoon in Atlanta, however, the focus was on baseball, family, and a lifelong dream realized. With Kendra Scott by his side and Braves baseball in the background, Zac Brown got to celebrate a moment where his love of music and America’s pastime came together perfectly.
For a kid who once sang the national anthem at a Braves game, becoming the voice that opens Sunday Night Baseball every week is about as full-circle as it gets. ⚾🎶🇺🇸
