The Yellowstone universe is expanding once again, and fans already have plenty to look forward to as Marshals heads into Season 2.
What Is Marshals?
Marshals is a Yellowstone spinoff that premiered on CBS in 2026, bringing Luke Grimes back as Kayce Dutton, the youngest of the Dutton siblings.
The series follows Kayce after he leaves the Yellowstone Ranch and joins the U.S. Marshals. Using his military background and Montana instincts, he takes on dangerous cases while trying to navigate his complicated family ties and the emotional weight of his new life.
Will There Be a Season 2?
Yes. CBS renewed Marshals for a second season in March, shortly after its debut drew strong viewership.
Who Is Returning for Season 2?
Luke Grimes is back as Kayce Dutton, while Brecken Merrill returns as Kayce’s son, Tate. Gil Birmingham is also expected to return as Thomas Rainwater, along with Mo Brings Plenty as Mo.
Season 2 will also bring some new faces and expanded roles. Morgan Lindholm’s character, Maddie, who was introduced in Season 1 as Pete “Cal” Calvin’s estranged daughter, will have a larger role.
Jefferson White is also joining Season 2, reprising his Yellowstone role as Jimmy Hurdstrom. Marque Richardson will appear in a recurring role as Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Burns.
Is Monica Dutton in Marshals?
No. Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille, is not part of the series. Her death occurred during the period between Yellowstone and Marshals and became part of the story surrounding the reservation and a deadly mining-related plotline.
What About Riley Green?
Riley Green appeared in Season 1 as Garrett, a former Navy SEAL dealing with the demons of his past. However, his character was killed during the season, meaning Green is not expected to return in Season 2 unless the show uses flashbacks.
What Happens in Season 2?
The Season 2 trailer hints at even higher stakes. Belle and Cal survive the Season 1 finale, while Kayce faces a terrifying situation involving his son Tate.
In the Season 2 premiere, Kayce discovers that Tate has been taken hostage and goes rogue in a desperate attempt to rescue him. Meanwhile, the Marshals uncover a powerful criminal operation connected to the East Camp land grab, leading to a violent confrontation that puts Kayce and everything he cares about in danger.
When Does Marshals Season 2 Premiere?
Season 2 of Marshals is scheduled to premiere Sunday, October 4.
The series airs on CBS before becoming available to stream on Paramount+.
