The Yellowstone universe is bringing another familiar face back to the screen. Jefferson White is officially returning as Jimmy Hurdstrom in Marshals Season 2, giving longtime fans another chance to see one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
White will reprise his role as Jimmy in a recurring capacity, and his return also means another reunion with Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton. After Jimmy’s long journey through the original Yellowstone series, seeing him cross paths with Kayce again adds another connection between the original series and Kayce’s new chapter.
The news has already created excitement among fans. The official Marshals social media account recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at Jefferson White back on set, teasing his return with the message, “Jimmy’s back on the ranch.”
White responded in the comments, making it clear that he was happy to be returning. He shared his excitement about seeing fans again and expressed gratitude for being back in the saddle.
For viewers who have followed Jimmy since his earliest days on Yellowstone, his return carries plenty of history.
Jimmy began his story as a young man who was struggling to find his place at the Yellowstone Ranch. He had little experience as a cowboy and faced one challenge after another as he tried to prove himself.
His journey was anything but easy. Jimmy endured injuries, difficult lessons, personal setbacks, and plenty of moments when it seemed like the ranching lifestyle might be too much for him. But over time, he developed into a far more capable and confident cowboy.
His time in Texas played an important role in that transformation, allowing Jimmy to gain experience and discover a stronger sense of purpose.
Now, his story is bringing him back to Montana.
In Marshals Season 2, Jimmy is expected to spend time at East Camp and meet the people who have become part of Kayce’s new life. That setup gives the series an opportunity to explore how Jimmy fits into this new chapter while also giving fans another glimpse into the wider world connected to Yellowstone.
His reunion with Kayce could be particularly meaningful for longtime viewers. Both characters have changed considerably since their days on the Yellowstone Ranch, and seeing them together again could provide some memorable moments.
At the same time, Jimmy’s recurring role leaves plenty of room for his character to have his own storyline while Kayce continues his work as a U.S. Marshal.
Marshals Season 2 premieres October 4, 2026, on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
Jimmy Hurdstrom has come a long way from the inexperienced ranch hand fans first met. Now that Jefferson White is back in the saddle, viewers will get to see what the next chapter of Jimmy’s story looks like.
