Kelly Clarkson is fueling country-album rumors once again—this time with her stunning take on Ella Langley’s chart-topping hit, “Weren’t For The Wind.”
During the “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson put her own effortless spin on the song, and fans immediately took notice. While she’s famous for covering everything from pop and rock to R&B and soul, there’s something especially magical when Clarkson leans into country. As a Texas native, the genre is in her blood, and for years fans have pleaded with her to finally release a full-length country album.
Though Clarkson has dipped her toe into country through collaborations with artists like Jason Aldean and Reba McEntire, a complete country project has yet to materialize. Until that day comes—if it ever does—fans can always count on her to deliver standout country performances on “Kellyoke,” and this latest cover was no exception.

The performance even caught the attention of Ella Langley herself. Reacting to the cover, Langley called it “insane” and added several mind-blown emojis, clearly stunned that an artist as iconic as Clarkson was singing a song she co-wrote.
Unsurprisingly, Clarkson’s rendition was met with overwhelming praise. “She has ALWAYS made singing any song, any genre look absolutely effortless,” one fan commented. Another echoed the sentiment, writing, “Every country Kellyoke convinces me even more that we need a full country album.”
“Weren’t For The Wind” marked a major milestone for Langley, becoming her first solo No. 1 single and her second career No. 1 overall, following “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green. The song was co-written with Joybeth Taylor and Johnny Clawson and produced by Will Bundy. When it reached the top of the charts, Langley shared a heartfelt message thanking her supporters and giving special recognition to her co-writers.
The track appears on Langley’s 18-song project, Still Hungover.
Langley closed out an incredible 2025 with two sold-out nights at Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium and a standout appearance at the 59th Annual CMA Awards, where she took home three trophies. She also delivered a buzz-worthy performance of her rising single, “Choosin’ Texas,” which continues to climb the country radio charts.
With new music already teased, 2026 is shaping up to be another huge year for Ella Langley—and fans are clearly watching every step of the way.
