Carrie Underwood loves staying busy, but as her packed schedule begins filling up again, she and husband Mike Fisher could have less time together at home.
The country superstar and the retired NHL player reportedly enjoyed some downtime as a family over the summer. Now, however, Underwood is returning to a busier work schedule, which could mean Fisher takes on more of the everyday responsibilities at home with their two sons.
That doesn’t necessarily signal trouble for the longtime couple. Still, balancing family life can be challenging when one partner spends significant time traveling for work.
Carrie Underwood’s Schedule Is Filling Up
According to a source who spoke with Star, Underwood “thrives on being busy.” As her career picks up again, the demands of her schedule could create additional challenges for the family.
It’s a situation many working couples can relate to. When one person’s career requires frequent travel or long hours away from home, the other partner may end up handling more of the day-to-day responsibilities.
Mike Fisher Could Take on More at Home
Underwood and Fisher have been married for 15 years and share two sons, Isaiah, 11, and Jacob, 7. Underwood’s career has frequently taken her on the road, and previous reports have suggested that the travel has sometimes created tension in their marriage.
One source claimed that Fisher doesn’t complain about the situation but suggested that the demands can still be difficult for him. The same source said the couple is currently in a good place, while maintaining that finding a balance could become more challenging once Underwood’s schedule gets busier.
That balance may become increasingly important in the months ahead. Along with her music career, Underwood is set to return to American Idol alongside Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest. Online auditions for Season 25 are already underway.
It will mark Underwood’s third season as an American Idol judge, while Bryan and Richie are set to enter their 10th seasons. ABC has not yet announced the show’s premiere date.

The couple stepped out in style to celebrate the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th birthday on Wednesday, March 19, attending the “Opry 100: A Live Celebration” NBC special. They walked the red carpet together for the event, offering fans a rare public appearance as a couple.
The two don’t frequently make red-carpet appearances together these days. In fact, they had reportedly gone about two years without appearing together on a carpet before their 2025 Opry celebration, with their previous major red-carpet appearance being at the 2022 CMA Awards.
