Meanwhile, Rolling Stone approached the song from a more celebratory angle, highlighting its playful lyrics, upbeat production and connection to Kelce’s Cleveland roots.
That split reaction may be exactly what makes “Cleveland!” so interesting. Rather than simply disappearing among four bonus tracks, the song has become a conversation starter, with listeners debating its lyrics, production and unusual title.
And despite the jokes about Cleveland needing an apology, the song itself isn’t really an attack on the city. Its Cleveland references are tied to Swift’s relationship with Kelce and his hometown, making the city more of a backdrop for the song’s love story than its actual target.
Whether “Cleveland!” becomes a fan favorite or remains one of the more divisive Encore tracks, Swift has once again managed to get people talking.
