Riley Green Makes a Strong Start on The Voice Season 30
The Voice Season 30 officially kicked off Monday night, September 21, and first-time coach Riley Green wasted no time making his presence known.
Riley Green Makes His Voice Debut
The country star stepped into his new coaching role with plenty of confidence, and his first Blind Audition quickly gave him a reason to celebrate.
One of the early contestants was 19-year-old Alabama native Joe Henley, who revealed before taking the stage that he was already a fan of Riley Green. But Henley had another hope for his Voice journey—he wanted both Riley and Kelly Clarkson to turn their chairs so he could watch the two coaches compete for him.
That wish came true.
Henley performed Travis Tritt’s “Anymore,” and his opening notes immediately caught the attention of both Clarkson and Green. Within moments, both coaches turned their chairs, setting up the first major coach-to-coach battle of the new season.
Henley admitted that he had never even performed a gig before, making the moment even more impressive. Suddenly, the young singer found himself with two major stars fighting for a spot on their teams.
When it was finally time to make his decision, Henley chose Riley Green.
The decision gave Green his first team member of Season 30 and marked an exciting beginning for the country singer in his first season as a coach.
Clarkson, meanwhile, took the result in good spirits. She congratulated Green and even suggested that his new team member could potentially take him all the way to the end.
“He could win you The Voice,” Clarkson told him.
Riley Green Has a Clear Strategy
Green also made it clear that he already has a strategy for his first season.
The country star wants to build his team around as many country artists as possible.
“I want to get all of them,” Green admitted, explaining that he believes a country singer has a strong opportunity to win the competition.
With his experience as a country artist and his understanding of the genre, Green appears ready to use that knowledge to help his team stand out.
And if his first Blind Audition is any indication, his strategy is already getting off to an exciting start.
Season 30 is just beginning, but Riley Green has already secured his first artist—and he may have found exactly the kind of country voice he was hoping to add to his team.
