Zac Brown Responds to Critics Ahead of White House Performance: “You’ve Got to Stand Up for What You Believe In”

Zac Brown is not backing down from criticism surrounding his upcoming performance at UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House.

As debate continues online over the event, the Zac Brown Band frontman made it clear that his decision to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with honoring those who have served the country.

Speaking with UFC on Paramount, Brown addressed the backlash directly.

“I’m honored to get to be a part of it, but if supporting our veterans villainizes me… then those people really don’t count anyway.”

Brown explained that he views the event as an opportunity to recognize America’s military and celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. For him, showing appreciation for veterans is not something he is willing to apologize for.

He also encouraged people to have the courage to stand behind their convictions, even when doing so brings criticism.

“You’ve got to be brave. You’ve got to stick your neck out there for the things you believe in and stand up for.”

The performance will take place alongside the United States Marine Band as part of the Freedom 250 celebration, an event designed to honor America’s history, service members, and the country’s upcoming 250th birthday.

Whether fans agree with him or not, Zac Brown’s message was clear: he believes supporting veterans and celebrating the nation is worth standing up for.
