13-Year-Old Brianna Cameron Stuns The Voice Coaches and Chooses Kelly Clarkson
A 13-year-old singer left all four coaches stunned during The Voice Season 30 premiere—and two coaches went all out trying to convince her to join their teams.
Season 30 of The Voice kicked off Monday night, September 21, with the first round of Blind Auditions. Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah and Adam Levine were ready to discover the next big voice, but one of the night’s youngest contestants quickly became one of the most memorable.
New Jersey native Brianna Cameron, just 13 years old, stepped onto the stage and delivered a powerful performance of Ike & Tina Turner’s iconic song.
From the moment she started singing, it was clear Brianna was no ordinary young performer. Her confidence and vocal power immediately caught the coaches’ attention.
It took Kelly Clarkson only about 30 seconds to hit her button. She quickly turned her chair and was soon on her feet, dancing along to Brianna’s performance.
Not long after, first-time coach Riley Green also turned his chair, clearly impressed by the young singer. Queen Latifah and Adam Levine were visibly impressed as well, but neither coach turned.
When Brianna finished and revealed her age, the coaches were amazed that such a powerful voice belonged to someone so young. Kelly was so excited that she even rushed onto the stage to give Brianna a hug.
But Brianna already had plenty of experience performing in front of big audiences.
She revealed that she had previously played a young Tina Turner during the Tina Turner National Tour. She also had a connection to Queen Latifah, having appeared on her television series The Equalizer.
That experience made the battle between Kelly and Riley even more interesting.
Kelly reminded Brianna that she had already coached four The Voice winners, making a strong case for why Brianna should choose her.
Riley Green, meanwhile, had a different strategy.
As a first-time coach, he couldn’t compete with Kelly’s track record—but he had one very special teammate who might be able to help.
Riley got out of his chair, walked over to grab his dog, Carl, and brought him over to Brianna.
“I just want you to look into his eyes,” Riley told her. “What do you think Carl would want you to do?”
It was a clever move from the new coach, but even Carl couldn’t change Brianna’s mind.
When the time came to make her decision, Brianna chose Kelly Clarkson as her coach.
The young singer’s Blind Audition gave fans an early glimpse of the incredible talent competing in Season 30—and it looks like Kelly may have just added another powerful voice to her team.
