At the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors, held on December 5 in Washington, D.C., Dave Grohl and Norah Jones delivered a stirring rendition of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” as part of a tribute to the legendary musician. Grohl, known for his work with Foo Fighters and Nirvana, showcased his vocal abilities alongside Jones’ soulful piano accompaniment, creating a performance that was both powerful and intimate.
The event, attended by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, also featured performances by artists such as Gwen Stefani with No Doubt, who opened the musical set with “Hello, Goodbye,” and Steven Tyler, who performed a medley from The Beatles’ “Abbey Road.”
The evening concluded with James Taylor and Mavis Staples leading the audience in “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude,” bringing McCartney and the President to their feet. The tribute highlighted McCartney’s enduring influence on music and culture, with Grohl expressing that “Without Paul McCartney and The Beatles, there would be no Foo Fighters, no Nirvana, there would be nothing. Paul, you’re my hero.”
