When Zac Brown stepped onto the White House lawn to perform the national anthem ahead of UFC Freedom 250, fans immediately noticed his sharp custom suit. What they didn’t see was the patriotic artwork hidden inside the jacket.
Days after the performance, the Zac Brown Band frontman shared a behind-the-scenes look at the one-of-a-kind outfit on social media, revealing a collection of custom details that made the suit unlike anything else in his wardrobe.
“It’s all in the details,” Brown said while showing off the handcrafted design.

The biggest surprise was concealed inside the jacket lining. When Brown opened the coat, fans got their first look at a custom illustration featuring the country star riding a bald eagle, surrounded by fireworks and an American flag. The over-the-top patriotic design immediately caught attention online and quickly became a fan favorite.
Laughing about the artwork, Brown joked, “I might be riding an eagle inside my jacket.”
Adding to the moment was the reaction from his wife, Kendra Scott, who could be heard off camera admiring the suit’s unique features and encouraging him to show viewers even more details.
Brown also revealed custom stitching on his shirt reading “USA 250,” a tribute to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.
The suit was designed by renowned custom clothier Mitch Purgason, who created the outfit using premium Italian wool while handcrafting every patriotic detail in the United States. The design included American flag accents on the vest, custom tri-color buttonholes inspired by the colors of the U.S. flag, and intricate handmade finishing touches that Purgason says cannot be replicated by machines.
Purgason has become one of the most sought-after designers in sports and entertainment, creating custom pieces for NFL stars, NASCAR drivers, and country music artists. His work has earned widespread recognition, including designing the official Heisman Trophy Blazer.
Fans were quick to praise Brown’s look after seeing the reveal.
Many complimented the craftsmanship of the suit, while others highlighted Brown’s powerful performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the White House event. Backed by the United States Marine Band and accompanied by a military flyover, the performance became one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.
Ahead of the event, Brown addressed criticism surrounding his appearance, making it clear that his decision was rooted in patriotism rather than politics.
“For me, this is patriotism, not politics,” Brown explained. “I love this country. I love the people who have sacrificed so that we can live our dreams.”
Whether fans were talking about his national anthem performance or the eagle-riding surprise hidden inside his jacket, one thing was clear: Zac Brown made sure every detail of the moment reflected his love for America. 🇺🇸🦅🎶
